Several years ago, 10 inmates at Kulani Correctional Facility, located south of Hilo, transformed a prison chaplain’s 3-by-7-foot office into a recording booth and produced a CD of religious music.
The fruit of their efforts, “The Cry of Your Heart,” was nominated Religious Album of the Year in the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards (the Hawaiian equivalent of the Grammys).
Once the project was completed, funds were generated through the sale of the CD. Each of the men independently decided to donate all of the proceeds to the Crime Victim Compensation Commission, a state panel that seeks to assist victims with financial hardship. This was an unprecedented move - a testimony of God’s work in these men. Below are a few tracks from their CD for you to enjoy!
