Turning Prisons around the World
into places of HOPE!
More than 8 Million people are incarcerated outside the United States at any given time. Counting typical turnover of short sentences, incarceration affects millions more each year.
Prison is a miserable place to find yourself - but overseas people who are incarcerated often face inhumane conditions – inadequate nutrition (many only getting one "meal" a day), environments with limited or no appropriate sanitation, unbearbale heat and humidity or unspeakable cold and dampness, and very limited medical care available. Adding to this, the countries where we serve present their own unique challenges as well – political instability, religious oppression and stark poverty.
In these challenging places, Good News brings the hope of Jesus Christ. With teams of chaplains, we are engaging those behind bars through worship services, Bible studies, counseling and discipleship. Thousands of people place their faith in Christ for the first time every month. Many of these new believers will grow in their faith while behind bars and return to their communities changed forever by the power of the Gospel.
